PearMonie

Took on the role of a sole designer at the beginning of the PearMonie project. This involved designing the app from scratch, ensuring a cohesive and user-friendly interface.

• Overview

PearMonie is an inventory management and business banking app designed to streamline business operations for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria and beyond. The app aims to simplify inventory tracking, financial management, and banking activities, making it easier for business owners to manage their operations efficiently.

• Discovery

During the discovery phase, I worked closely with the Product Owner and Growth Lead to understand the objectives, target audience, and business requirements for the products. We defined the scope of the app and identified the key features necessary for its success.

• Design Strategy

I formulated a design strategy that emphasized user experience, efficiency, and a consistent design language. A dynamic design system was created by myself, ensuring a seamless experience across web and mobile platforms. It allowed for rapid prototyping and easy iteration.

• User Research

To gain insights into the target users' needs and pain points, I collaborated with the team and also conducted independent user interviews, surveys, and competitor analysis. The findings guided the design decisions and influenced the overall app structure.

• UI/UX Design

With a deep understanding of the users and their requirements, I proceeded to design the 300+ screens of the app. The customer and admin product-management dashboard were meticulously crafted to provide a pleasant and productive experience for both user types.

• Prototyping & Testing

A low-fidelity prototype was created to enable user testing and feedback collection. I collaborated with the development team to implement the designs and conducted usability tests to validate the user flows.

• Iteration and Data-Driven Design

Working with the 25+ member team, we collected user feedback, analyzed data, and identified areas of improvement. Iterative design cycles were initiated to address pain points and optimize the user experience.

•Marketing Efforts

I also designed engaging marketing materials, including the initial website and social media artifacts, to drive awareness and adoption. These materials effectively communicated the app's benefits to SMEs, enhancing user engagement. My work ensured a cohesive brand presence across all promotional channels.

  • The data-driven design iterations resulted in a 10% decrease in customer complaints in one month, indicating an improved user experience.
  • Customer retention increased by 20%, showcasing the app’s enhanced usability and value to users.
  • The marketing efforts and website redesign led to 5,000 new app downloads, contributing to increased user engagement and brand visibility.

The results speak for themselves, with reduced complaints, increased customer retention, and successful marketing efforts. PearMonie continues to serve businesses effectively, thanks to the robust product design and ongoing dedication to user satisfaction.

• Successful Execution and Results

Designing PearMonie was a challenging yet rewarding experience. As the sole designer at the project's inception, I played a crucial role in shaping the app’s user experience and visual identity. Through close collaboration with stakeholders and a user-centric approach, PearMonie has become a valuable tool for SMEs in Nigeria and beyond, helping them manage their inventory and banking needs more efficiently.
